A Luxury Wedding Planners Guide To: The Wedding Budget
It happened. They finally did it. The proposal! AND it was dreamy! Friends and family are over the moon, the Pinterest board is filling up and the research begins! We understand that the wedding budget isn’t the most romanitc conversation to start with, however here we explain why it’s the most important.
When you finally start contacting suppliers, you’ll start being asked the one question that you may struggle to answer. This isn’t because you don’t know, more that you don’t really want too. “Do you know how much you would like to spend your wedding?” or “Do you have an approximate budget for your wedding?” The wedding industry has a bit of a bad reputation of “ripping people off” and this may be the reason you’re hesitating. This isn’t true, there is a lot of hard work that goes into putting your big day together.
You may genuinely have no idea how much you would like to spend, or even how much everything is going to cost. This is why it is so important to set a starting point when speaking to suppliers and share your ideas. It’s key to sit down and come up with the wedding budget and tell the suppliers.
You do not want to waste your own time: you are probably really busy with life, why spend more time speaking to suppliers who genuinely cannot help you when you don’t need to. All suppliers have different starting prices, and the truth is, some may be completely out of your budget. If you have a budget of £5,000 (that you do not share) for flowers and huge ideas (that you do share), with the florist, they may spend a week putting together the most beautiful proposal that shows your dream wedding, with a total price of £50,000, and that is something you just cannot stretch too. Whilst this huge cost would get you something sensational, you can still get something beautiful with £5,000. It will just take some smart looking and decisions and well as an upfront discussion about the wedding budget.
Sharing your budget with a wedding planner will also allow us to completely breakdown your budget. This will give you a realistic costs for each element of your big day before we start contacting suppliers on your behalf.
